Rehearsal

We rehearse every week on Tuesday evening from 7.30pm to 10pm in 'The Attic' at Scott Road Community Centre, Selby (click here for map). There is a subscription of £3 per week. If you want to find out what a cappella singing is all about please come and visit. Or for more information phone Megan on  01405 862846, or send an email.

Barbershop is a style of four part, unaccompanied singing, usually sung in all male or all female groups. The four parts are

  • lead - the melody
  • bass - the foundation of the chorus who sing very, very low
  • tenor - known to twinkle, sparkle and generally show off on the high notes
  • baritone - all the notes that are left. The hardest part to sing.

The Abbey Belles do not sing exclusively in the barbershop style but cover many different kinds of 'a capella' singing in our repertoire.
